FAQs
How does the grade work?
We read what is printed on the pack and look at four parts: nutrition, processing, ingredients and additives. Together they make a score out of 100, and the score sets the grade from A to F. Tap Why this verdict on any product to see its reasons, in order.
Where does the data come from?
From the pack: the ingredient list, nutrition table, allergen lines, additives and front-of-pack claims. Numbers are shown as printed. Where we calculate, such as per 100 g from a serving, we say so. We don’t test products in a lab. Packs change, so the pack in your hand wins.
Why does a product have no grade?
You still see the product, marked Grade soon. It may be held because something on the pack couldn’t be read or is being checked against the pack image. Single-ingredient foods such as dal, rice, atta, oil and salt have nothing on the pack to grade against, and the verdict says so.
How are allergens shown?
As the pack prints them, under Contains and May contain. If we found no statement, we say No statement found. That only means we found nothing printed; it doesn’t tell you the allergen is absent. Allergens never change the grade. If you have an allergy, always check the pack.
Do I need to sign in?
No. Search, browsing and grades all work without an account. This website has no sign-in. In the PlateProbe app, sign in with your phone number to keep your saved products, scan history and points. PlateProbe accounts are for adults 18+.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile → Delete my account and type DELETE to confirm. You have 7 days to change your mind: sign in again to cancel. After that it can’t be undone. You can also ask without the app; see Delete my account.
How do I report a wrong label?
Open the product and choose Report an issue, or use Report an issue. Say what’s wrong and add a pack photo if you have one. A person checks it.
Where do prices come from?
Prices are ones we saw on shopping sites, shown with the site and the date seen. They can change, so check the seller before you buy. If no price has been seen, none is shown. We don’t sell anything, and a price never changes the grade.
Does my profile change a product’s grade?
No. Personal preferences add context and do not change the product grade.
Is this medical advice?
No. Grades and information come from the product label and published rules. They are not medical or dietary advice. Always check the pack.
